Transforming a Spreadsheet into a Web Application

ServPro was looking for a way to upgrade their business process management. Before, they used custom spreadsheets to keep track of metrics, finance, and reports. They wanted to transform their Excel spreadsheets into a full-featured web application that would improve their workflow and simplify day-to-day operations for their employees, managers, and resellers.

ProDev started working on a brand-new web application that incorporated all the complex data processing in the backend. The front-end would feature a user-friendly dashboard with systems for notifications, note taking, scheduled reporting, and 1-click automation.
ServPro’s app interface design was done in Adobe XD and finished within a week. The app development was done in Angular 9.0, Laravel Framework, and MySQL, and finished within a month.

ServPro is a leader in the cleaning and restoration industry with over 100 franchises in the state of Florida and over 1,700 nationwide.
ServPro of East Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch is a locally owned and operated franchise whose professionals are ready to provide emergency services, clean or restore any property in the surrounding areas, and beyond.

PROJECT ROADBLOCKS

We had barely started to develop the application when we noticed that we didn’t have all the formulas required to move the project forward.
These custom formulas were only in the head of our client’s Operations Manager. We had to find a way to map them out so that we could code the functionalities needed to generate analytics and reports.

PLAN OF ACTION

Our team undertook the task of creating an action plan that would allow us to define concretely, together with the client, what the formulas, calculations, analytics, and reports would be like.
Next, we created a test digital experience with non-sensitive data. This way, we could make sure everything ran smoothly from the get-go.
